Using Backlink Tools To Improve Rankings

This is one of my favourite and most proved SEO methods. It’s relatively easy, white hat and very effective if you pull it off.

Go to the Backlink Checking Tool and enter your URL. Once you have done this it will list all the indexed backlinks to your website, the anchor text used to link to your site and how many outbound links they have from that page. A good idea for SEO would be to run this analysis on one of your leading competitors. Do a check for there website and see how many links they have. Find the location of there links and then try and request a link to your website from the ones that have linked to your competitors. Do not use all the same anchor text for each link because this will look automated to the search engines.

Once you have successfully received links from the webmasters that link to your competitors site, you can then move on run a check and do the same process on your second competitor.

You should make a spreadsheet to record who you have requested a link from, who has placed a link to your site and what anchor text they have used. This way you will make sure you don’t request links from sites that already link to you and you can chase webmasters up if they haven’t responded to you.

By doing this you should be able to make easy high quality reciprocal / one way backlinks to your website, using a variety of anchor text from different domains. You should do this from quite alot of your competitors, just for self satisfaction when you overtake them in the search results. You may also learn what anchor text variations work best in links to your site so you can continue to improve your own rankings.

Use your competitors well!
