SEO Tips For Your Ecommerce Website

This is what its all about. People are looking for the best way to SEO optimize there ecommerce website. I beleive these 5 tips will send your traffic and sales through the roof.

1. Use unique heading and title tags for each item and category page
This will ensure that these pages have a better chance of being found through the search engines. For example if all the pages of your site are optimized for “discount golf store” nobody will find your “golf clubs” pages from the search engines because it has not been optimized. You need  to give every page a chance to be found in the search engines. This will maximise the chance for potential sales. People will also search for the actual product and its brand name.. for example “nike sasquatch driver”. Even though these sort of keywords are low competition if you are optimized for alot of them it could bring alot of traffic to your website.
2. Use relevant filenames for webpages and other files
When you add pages with your products on search engines like you to name your filenames after them.. for example if you are selling a golf putter you shouldn’t name the filename “item1.htm” it should be “golf-putter.htm”.. remember the word relevancy. The more of it you have the better you will rank.
3. Use your keywords as your alt text for product images
This will not only help validate your html on your pages, but it will also help you rank in the search engines. Using your keywords in your alt text is good, however you should not use these as an opportunity to spam. Just include your primary or secondary keywords once. For example a good example of alt text would be “dog leads” for someone who is trying to sell dog leads. This seems obvious, but if you remember to do it, Google will like you and your SEO efforts.
4. Use a breadcrumb trail on your pages
When you are on a item page, there should be a link at the bottom of the page back to the category and back to the home page. When you are on the category page, there should just be a link back to the homepage. Google like breadcrumbs. I know this because they tell you to do it in there seo report.
5. Work with other sites in the same niche
Create a useful resources section and link to about 15 websites of the same sort of topic. If you can link to relevant blogs that give you information. Once you have linked to about 15 or 20 websites you should then ask them for a link back to your website. However linking to them alone may know you up in the rankings abit because it shows Google you know who your competitors are.
