Using article directories to grow traffic to your website is very easy. All you need to do is write an article that is relevant to your website that includes a link to your home page and a link that points to a page within your website. Sites like ezinearticles have extremely high traffic.

If you can get an article accepted on a site like this, it should have a lot of pageviews.. how can you gain traffic to your site though?.. well imagine if it had 50 people look at it each day. Not much I know, maybe only 5 of these people would click through to your site from the link at the bottom. If you had 50 articles accepted with a site like EzineArticles, you may see yourself having alot of traffic. 50 articles is a small target, you should aim big and not set yourself a limit. Not only are you getting high quality targeted traffic to your website, you are gaining yourself some very useful and relevant backlinks that will help you with your SEO.

Each article you write should only be submitted to one article directory site and should not already be on your own website or blog, this is because your content will be penalized by the “duplicate content” rule and you will not see the massive potential gains from article marketing. You articles should’nt be like a sales pitch either. This will more than like drive visitors away from your site because your articles will look spammy. Aim to write clear, useful information about your topic that people could link to because it is a valuable resource.

Article marketing is the quickest and easiest way of driving high amounts of good quality to your website. If you don’t like writing, then you will probably find that this method isn’t for you, unless you are prepared to hire freelance writers to do it for you.

This is one of my favourite and most proved SEO methods. It’s relatively easy, white hat and very effective if you pull it off.

Go to the Backlink Checking Tool and enter your URL. Once you have done this it will list all the indexed backlinks to your website, the anchor text used to link to your site and how many outbound links they have from that page. A good idea for SEO would be to run this analysis on one of your leading competitors. Do a check for there website and see how many links they have. Find the location of there links and then try and request a link to your website from the ones that have linked to your competitors. Do not use all the same anchor text for each link because this will look automated to the search engines.

Once you have successfully received links from the webmasters that link to your competitors site, you can then move on run a check and do the same process on your second competitor.

You should make a spreadsheet to record who you have requested a link from, who has placed a link to your site and what anchor text they have used. This way you will make sure you don’t request links from sites that already link to you and you can chase webmasters up if they haven’t responded to you.

By doing this you should be able to make easy high quality reciprocal / one way backlinks to your website, using a variety of anchor text from different domains. You should do this from quite alot of your competitors, just for self satisfaction when you overtake them in the search results. You may also learn what anchor text variations work best in links to your site so you can continue to improve your own rankings.

Use your competitors well!

Google Analytics is a fantastic tool used by webmasters to track how many people have hit there website or blog. You can also find out much more detailed information about this sort of information also. For example you can find out the most popular pages of your website, other websites that have reffered visitors to your site and also what keywords people have used to find your site.

So how is this information useful? Once you have found out what pages are getting hit the most, you can optimize them so they get hit more, or you could do the opposite and optimize the pages that aren’t getting hit as much. Any way you optimize individual pages on your site you will gain more traffic to your website. You can also decide which sites you should place a link too using Google Analytics. When you are getting lots of hits as a result of a reffering website, if you haven’t already linked to this site, it may be an idea to do so. This would be a good idea because you are repaying the favour and also improving your rankings because there website will obviously have high relevancy because you are getting hits from there site.

Monitoring your progress is also definately useful. This way you can establish wich SEO methods you decide to use work the best. If you improve your on site SEO factors and you gain hardly no traffic, but then you gain several high quality backlinks to your website and your traffic suddenly jumps up. You know that link building is more effective than on page SEO and you should maybe concentrate abit more on that. (I’m not saying it is, just using it as an example).

By seeing what keywords your site is performing best for may also spark up new ideas for new keywords to optimize for and also more topics to blog about. Google Analytics is a very useful tool for people to improve traffic to there website or blog when it is used properly.
